Magnesi and Gimenez all set to clash tonight
Italian Michael Magnesi (21-1, 13KO) and the undefeated Argentine Ayrton Osmar Gimenez (17-0, KO) will clash tonight, Friday, March 31, in Valmontone, Rome, Italy, in an event presented by Alessandra Branco’s A&B events, Lou di Bella’s DiBella Entertainment and Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing.
Both fighters showed that they were in optimal condition by passing the official weigh-in, both registering 130 pounds, reporting themselves spruced up and ready for this important fight, for the vacant World Boxing Council Silver super featherweight title, last held by O'Shaquie Foster since 2018! The winner of this chapionship contest could become only the eighth WBC Silver super featherweight champion in the title's 13-year history.
28-year-old Lazio man Magnesi is well known by British boxing fans after his one and only career defeat to 'The Apache' Anthony Cacace last September, with the Italian's IBO World title on the line, which he had held for close to two full years. The bitter disappointment of losing his world title in his third defence will surely have lit a fire in his belly for this bout.
While 24-year-old 'Pacman' Giménez arrives after defeating Walter Ezequiel Gauchez last December. He is undefeated in his career but only has three KOs and hasn't stopped any of his last four foes. His last KO came in December 2021, but hasn't been able to knock out any of the fighters with winnong records he has faced.
