Shakur Stevenson fails to make weight for Robson Conceicao defence
A big change just happened to Friday's fight night
Defending WBC and WBO super-featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson (18-0, 9KO) weighed in on Thursday, September 22, at 131.6 pounds, 1.6 pounds over the weight class limit.
Because of the miss, Stevenson has been stripped of the belts. The fight is still on, but only challenger Robson Conceicao (17-1, 8KO) is eligible to win the titles.
"I gave it my all," Stevenson said on social media. "I’ve been professional my whole career and made weight, but my body just can’t make 130 anymore. My health has to come first. I’m moving up to 135 in my next fight."
Firstly, all eyes will be on Stevenson's clash with Conceicao Friday night, some questioning whether the weight struggle will afect his performance, but what comes afterwards will be the potential fights next. Gervonta Davis, Devin Haney and Vasyl Lomachenko are just a few of the superstars residing at lightweight.

Fans' Reaction
"I was always shocked at your ability to make 126 as an amateur considering your frame."
"Why take a fight at a weight you know you can’t make?"
"Lame, don't even make the fight then if you're not gonna make weight, shameful really. Put it on top of the other evidence that you're fake and a woman beater and you're becoming increasingly dislikable."
"We knew it was coming."
"He decline the two hours and decided to not make weigh. He now stripped off the belts and has to pay a fine. Any boxed misses weight must pay the other boxer and their team for wasting time."
"You moving up to 135 may be the best thing in boxing right now. That division is burning."
"Bro – quit tweeting and go lose that weight. You literally said no social media until your fight and now you’re tweeting when you should be sweating…"
"Talking smack but can’t make the championship weight but Robson can and he’s a bigger and older guy."
