Sam Stokes moves up to 2-0
Basildon super-middleweight, Sam Stokes 2-0-0 cruised to his second victory in the paid ranks last night at the Camden Centre, Kings Cross on the combined Mark Prior Promotions and Hellraiser Promotions show.
The Romany Gypsy with a big following of fans defeated Czech middleweight, Jan Balog 8(3)-21(4)-1 over four rounds, doubling his win tally.
This was Stokes' second win over a Czech national following a successful debut win over the Czech Republic’s Josef Obeslo 5(3)-18(2)-2 in July this year at the same venue, the Camden Centre.
Winning all four rounds with a 40-36 points score, the 24-year-old Essex boy has settled nicely into the paid game and has dropped down from ligh-heavyweight to super-middleweight after two gruelling training camps and is now looking to start notching up the wins in order to challenge for titles in the not too distant future.
Stokes said, “I want to notch up the wins asap then in 2015 I would definitely be looking towards a Masters title; end of the year – Southern Area. Just one step at a time and I know that I’ll get there.”
Flyweight debutant and Peacock Gym teammate, Jordan Smith lost on his first pro outing in a tough fight with Brett Fidoe. The 21-year-old standing at 5ft 10" tall remains optimistic and looks forward to his next professional fight early next year.
The knockout action on the night saw Dillian Whyte, Yasin Basar and Arthur Hermann all stop their opponents within the first four rounds.
