Undercard Highlights
There's another title fight on the packed bill that features the likes of Adam Azim, Cori Gibbs, debutant Karriss Artingstall, as well as two BOXXER series tournament champions.
River Wilson-Bent and Tyler Denny renew their rivalry in an English middleweight title clash. These two West Midlanders battled for this same belt in 2021, but the exciting contest was stopped short in round seven due to an accidental cut to Wilson-Bent. The scorecards were called upon but the boxers couldn't be split. 28 from Coventry, Wilson-Bent has been able to bag a brace of points wins since then but this will be 30-year-old southpaw Denny's first fight back. Expect firewors in this one!
Background
Sam Eggington has lost seven times during his 10-year professional career but each time he bounces back stronger. His last defeat was to domestic rival Ted Cheeseman in a close contest during lockdown. Since that disappointment, he has reeled off three fine victories against decent calibre opponents. He added a big name to his resume when he stopped Ashley Thophane in six rounds, albeit past his best; then he defeated former world champion Carlos Molina unanimously to win the WBC Silver middleweight title; then he bested unbeaten Bilel Jkitou in a bruising, bloody battle that ended in a split decision.
His 39th opponent is the No.1 ranked super-welterweight in Poland, and is also in the top 10 pound for pound list in his country, as well as 37th in the IBO world rankings.
He made his pro debut on February 20, 2016 and took on and defeated three unbeaten prospects in his first four fights. The 30-year-old, trained by Lukasz Malinowski, spars with fellow unbeaten professional boxer Maksim Hardzeika (11-0, 4KO) and world title contender Maciej Sulecki (30-2, 11KO), so will have great preparation for this world title challenge.
'Savage Sam' is a a two-time ‘Fight of the Year’ winner thanks to his all-action fighting style, so fight fans can look forward to another crowd-pleasing performance in this next fight.
Predictions
Tim Rickson, BBN Editor: “Watching Sam Eggington fight is always exciting but also unbearable at the same time! He does take too much punishment, too brave for his own good. I will be willing him to win because not many boxers deserve a world title in the same way he does.”
