Ryan Rozicki will face WBC cruiserweight champion Noel Mikaelian next
Canadian Ryan Rozicki defeated Nigerian Olandewaju Durodola by knockout in the first round at the Emera Center in North Sydney, Canada, thus winning the WBC cruiserweight eliminator.
Durodola was backed into the corner early on, but landed two nice jabs clean on Rozicki to escape the ropes and begin attacking back. There was a brief clinch which saw Durodola land a nice uppercut on the break. Backed to the ropes again, Durodola threw left and right hooks which Rozicki rolled under to come up with a nice straight right hand on the button, which shook the Nigerian, so the Canadian naturally unleashed everything he had, landing several successive right hands. Durodola came back with a couple of rights of his own but after a few more powerful hooks landed cleanly, Durodola slumpped back into the ropes and referee Joel Scobie rightfully jumped in to stop the contest.
Ryan Rozicki once again demonstrated his great punch power and increased to his record to 20-1, 19KOs, while Olanrewaju Durodola slipped to 43-10, 40 KOs.
After this victory Rozicki becomes the mandatory challenger of WBC cruiserweight champion, Noel Mikaelian.
