Ryan García undergoes successful surgery
Undefeated lightweight contender Ryan García (21-0, 18KOs) underwent surgery to repair damage to his right hand and wrist, which occurred during a sparring session.
23-year-old Ryan was discharged from the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute, a world leader in the treatment of sports-related injuries and illnesses.
The Canelo Team fighter from California cancelled his November 27th bout against “Jo-Jo Diaz”, but he is expected to be able to return to the ring in early 2022.
'King Ry' has not fought since January 2021 when he defeated Olympian Luke Campbell. He took a much needed break to deal with and resolve mental health issues that kept him out of the ring.
The former WBC Interim World lightweight champion commented: “The surgery was a success. Thanks for your support, I am very happy.”
