Caribbean Dust Up in Venezuela
This Friday, December 22, a boxing card called “Battle of the Caribbean” in Venezuela with the support of the Venezuelan National Professional Boxing Commission and the World Boxing Council.
The international event will take place at the emblematic José María Vargas Dome in La Guaira, Venezuela, where three WBC regional belts will be at stake.
The local Yerny Betancourt (23-2, 19KO), 24 from Los Teques, goes up against 28-year-old Mexican Eric Gamboa (24-1, 13KO).
Additionally, at super flyweight, 22-year-old Venezuelan Jonathan Cisneros (17-1, 10KO) and Argentine David Nuñez (5-2, 2KO) will face each other over 10 championship rounds.
The main event of the event will be the hard-hitting Venezuelan Rodrigo Ramírez (16-1-1, 10KO) against the Mexican Iván García Balderas (11-2) in the light fly division. The 31-year-old 'El Consentido' Ramirez from Caracas challenged for the WBC and IBF Latino light-flyweight titles but was narrowly defeated by Junior Leandro Zarate via split decision, last July.
Another four fights occupy the seven-fight card.
