Talented middleweight Rod Smith (7-1) returns after a 20-month hiatus to headline JE Promotions’ East Midlands show titled ‘Summer Showdown’.
Once again the North Notts Arena in Worksop will play host to an evening of professional boxing courtesy of JE Promotions with a six-fight card on the weekend that marks the halfway point of the year.
Smith makes his comeback in a six-rounder against Latvian Edgar Sniedze (4-19) after a year-and-a-half away.
‘Razor’ is a six-foot middleweight from Yorkshire with just a solitary loss on his record to Tom Doran (15-0) in November 2015.
Smith’s best scalp so far in his five-year pro career is a points win over two-time Commonwealth title contender Liam Cameron (15-2) in his fifth fight back in December 2013.
The super-middleweight opponent from Riga has had all of wins coming inside the distance but has yet to have his hand raised overseas.
The Dronfield man will be eager to get back to title contention but manager Joe Elfidh has stressed they will only move on at the right time for his new signing.
Local favourite Darren Snow (5-13-1) fights at his fortress for the fifth time, victorious on all previous occasions, the light-heavyweight will be looking to continue his home run.
Last time out, ‘Snowy’ provided fans with a real treat as he and rival Richard Harrison (2-15) went at it hammer and tongs to complete their trilogy, which was held at one apiece – the home fighter triumphed 39-37 on points to remain unbeaten in all contests at the North Notts Arena.
Middleweight prospect Kyle Fox (1-0), 23-years-old from Doncaster, gets straight back to the ring after a successful pro debut points win over the experienced Kieran Grey (8-61-2) last March.
The former amateur boxing champion will be looking to double his win tally in another four-rounder.
Welterweight Mark Weston (2-1) will be looking to make it a hat-trick of wins after doubling his win tally with a third-round stoppage victory over Scottish opponent Guiseppe Duprato (2-13) last March.
Weston, from North Anston, originally debuted back in September 2014 at the Ice Sheffield with a successful win over the recently deceased Bheki Moyo 40-35 on points.
Connor Tongue (1-0), 23-years-old from Dinnington, was well-supporter on his debut in July last year as he comfortably defeated another JE Promotions fighter in Ricky Leach (1-9-1) 60-54 on points.
Ex-army boxing champion Chris Reyes (0-0) makes his long-awaited debut on the night.
The Filipino flyweight signed contracts with manager Joe Elfidh last year and he has high hopes for the Chell resident, “This guy is special! I’ve been watching him spar and Charlie Edwards and all those other guys had better watch out for him because he’ll be knocking on their doors in no time.”
