Gaspar will challenge WBC champion Rupprecht
Peruvian boxer Rocío “La Bebé” Gaspar (12-1, 3KO) will fight for the minimum WBC world title against German Tina Rupprecht (11-0-1, 3KO) in the champion's backyard at Heilbronn, Germany, on December 10.
29-year-old Gaspar comes to this fight with a record of 12 wins and only one loss, in addition, in her last presentation she defeated Estefanía Alvarado from Ecuador by unanimous decision.
She also has previously experienced a world title fight, so this experience will be nothing new for her. Her sole career defeat was to Maria Milano when contesting the WBC World atomweight belt, narrowly losing out on a split. She was away from the ring for almost six years but bounced back with a unianmous points decision over six rounds in August against Estefania Alvarado.
Facing her will be WBC champion Tina Rupprecht, who has a record of 11 wins. The Bayern boxer is aptly nicknamed 'Tiny Tina' for standing at just five-feet-tall.
Before traveling to Germany, Rocío “Bebé” Gaspar spoke with the Peruvian media about the tough confrontation she will have: “With all the desire and excitement to be in Germany. This is the WBC minimumweight title, it will be a dream come true to bring it back home. The champion is a super-fast opponent, with good footwork. We have already analyzed this to be able to work based on that. We are very prepared for this challenge”.
