Debutant Ace Adam reveals the diet that allows him to turn pro
Light-heavyweight Ace Adamreveals his strict diet regime to BBN as he makes the transition from the Queensbury Boxing League to the pro ranks.
The ABA Novices finalist is hard at work preparing for his pro debut but took time out from his hectic schedule to disclose his disciplined diet, which allows him to train from dawn to dusk.
5:00am
Three-mile run
“Because I’m working in the day, I have to get up early and put that session in.”
6:00am
Breakfast:
Water with lemon
Porridge with raisins or honey or cinnamon
10:00
Morning snack:
Sliced apples with peanut butter or almond butter
12:00pm
Lunch:
Salad with sliced eggplants or fish – normally mackerel or tuna
Post-lunch – Pre-dinner:
Hemp protein shake or bar
Handful of cashew nuts
6:00pm
Dinner:
Brown rice and salmon
7:00pm
Monday – Boxing session
Tuesday – Track session
Wednesday – Boxing session
Thursday – Swimming or strength and conditioning session
Friday – Boxing session
Saturday – Swimming or strength and conditioning session
Sunday – Rest day
8:00pm
Post-dinner:
Hemp protein shake or bar
Fruit
Drinks:
“I drink up to four litres of water per day, probably a little bit more on bigger training days.”
Cheat Meals:
Greggs vegan sausage roll
“I only have cheat meals after a fight or once a week if I’ve done well.”
Overview:
“I’m a pescatarian so I have no meat and lots of fish and lots of veg, I experiment with different foods like tofu, jack fruit, eggplant and soya chunks.
“What I’m trying to do with my diet is to get the best of both worlds, so some of those foods are replacements for meat to give me the protein I need.
“I don’t drink milk, I only drink hemp milk.”
Ace’s tips for dieting:
“Take your time, start off with reducing portions to begin with. Make it a rule not to have any carbs after 7pm, because you’re not active after that time and it will just sit there on the belly.
“Most importantly, drink lots of water to flush the system.”
