WBA hands down six-month suspension to Jarrell Miller after three failed drug tests
Jarrell 'Big Baby' Miller recently failed three VADA drug tests, coming up positive for GW1516, EPO, and HGH, but only received a meaningless six-month suspension, which means he could back in the ring as early as November this year.
Miller lost his massive $5 million payday and shot at Anthony Joshua's WBA 'Super', IBF, WBO and IBO titles on June 1 at Madison Square Garden in front of his home fans.
He was already unlicensed so the New York State Athletic Commission couldn’t do anything other than refuse him a new license.
The WBA moved to suspend Miller for six-months and will be omitted from their rankings until October. In order to get back in he has to register with VADA at his own expense for random testing.
Co-promoter Greg Cohen says the ruling is “fair,” which runs in line with their regulations.
The 30-year-old from Brooklyn also tested positive when competing as a kick boxer for the banned substance methylhexaneamineafter after his 2014 decision loss to Mirko Cro Cop, which gave him nine-month suspension from the California State Athletic Commission, plus a $2,500 fine.
'Big Baby' Miller could be back within the year and with his colourful persona, elevated profile and widely criticised reaction to his blatant cheating, he could find himself in another big title fight very soon. Any fight with the New Yorker will be a highly taked about affair, making him a dream opponent for promoters aiming to sell shows.
