Cruiserweights Noel Gevor and Youri Kalenga dispute WBC Silver title
Armenian based in Germany, Noel Gevor (25-2-0, 11 KO’s), will face tough fighter from Congo, Youri Kayembre Kalenga (27-6-02, 20 KO’s) on February 12 at the Studio 69 in Riga, Latvia for the vacant WBC Silver cruiserweight title.
In this country, back in 2018, Gevor lost a very close decision against the local star Mairis Briedis. Now, he heads back to Latvia, aiming for a big win on a card presented by Probellum.
Gevor is ranked 4th and Kalenga is ranked 9th in the WBC rankings, so in addition to the World Boxing Council’s Silver Cruiser title being at stake, the winner will take a significant step towards disputing the world crown, currently held by Ilunga Makabu.
“I am looking forward to getting back in the ring and facing Youri, who is an experienced fighter. After signing with Probellum in December, my immediate goal is to make sure I’m in the best possible shape to show the world that I’m one of the best in my division,” said Gevor.
For his part, Youri Kayembre commented: “I am excited about this fight. I've undergone a great preparation for this fight, determined to continue reaping triumphs in my career.”
