Nick Ball is only interested in letting his fists do the talking
Quotes below from today's Queensberry Promotions press conference which took place at the BT Sport Studios in London, just a stone’s throw from Saturday night’s venue, the Copper Box Arena.
Liverpool’s ferocious featherweight Nick Ball will defend his WBC Silver belt he won at Wembley last April against challenger Nathanael Kakololo, who is ranked second best featherweight in Namibia and in the top 100 in the world.
The pair will lock horns for 12 rounds this Saturday night, July 16, live on BT Sport.
Known as ‘Natty’, the 33-year-old visiting fighter is an African Union champion, who has won his last three fights in a row, two by knockout.
However, 25-year-old Ball, trained by Paul Stevenson at the Everton Red Triangle, is not interested in sharing words, instead just desperate to get in the ring and let his actions do the talking.
Here’s what they had to say:
Nick Ball: "I am feeling good and thanks to Frank for getting me back out so soon. I am ready to go now and can't wait. It has all been good and I've been getting a load of attention and new supporters, but life hasn't changed for me and I will stay with the hard work and being focused. I will push on for bigger and better things now. I don't want to look at him on YouTube, I want to look at him in real life and I will find out everything about him on Saturday night. I've got nothing really to say to him. No talking and all action, as always."
Nathanael Kakololo: "I am feeling good and I am feeling at home. I used to see him fight and I have seen him struggling but, for me, he is a good customer for me. He is a small boy and I just want to tell him that every champion was once a contender. I hung up my WBA African belt at home and I have come to challenge for the WBC. I am here to win and become WBC champion. Champions stay ready and I am ready for him. I am ready for anything at any time."
Paul Stevenson: "Nick is really on the rise. Every area of his game just keeps improving. He’s a nightmare for opponents, a real highly skilled, fast-handed destroyer who can box and fight. We take every fight seriously, they’re all important and Nick is 100% focussed on doing the business on Saturday night."
