Heartbreak for Nav Mansouri in IBF title fight
Nav Mansouri (19-1-2) suffered a controversial points defeat in his IBF Inter-Continental super-welterweight title fight against Jorge Fortea (18-1-2) in Spain on February 16.
Mansouri, 29 from Rotherham, and Fortea, 28 from Sueca, both had strong spells in a good contest at the Palacio de los Deportes in Malaga, but the Spaniard prevailed, inflicting only the second pro loss of Mansouri’s career.
The 29-year-old super-welterweight’s previous three outings in Spain have all seen him win in impressive fashion, including a stoppage win over Bogdan Mitic at the Plaza de Toros back in October. He hinted afterwards he may turn his attentions back to the British title. Injury scuppered his challenge for the belt three years ago.
“It’s a booming division,” he said. “I've learnt a lot from this camp and I am prepared to take on any fight with both hands.”
