Boxing world rocked by tragic passing of talented amateur champ, Jude Moore
Talented two-time national champion boxer, Jude Moore, has died suddenly aged just 19, as tributes poured in from his family and friends.
Jude Moore, who represented England in 2017 at the EUBC Junior European Championships in Romania, sadly passed away on Friday, March 17, his family confirmed.
Moore trained at Downend Boxing in Fishponds, Bristol, and was due to fight in Milan this week. He had just participated in his first senior amateur fight, knocking out the Polish national champion.
Moore was a two-time national champion and had hoped to later turn professional with dreams of becoming a world champion.
He was determined to fulfil his dreams after being introduced to the sport by both his father and uncle. He left behind parents Mark and Carla, and brothers Ethan and Beau.
Head coach at Downend Boxing Club, Craig Turner, paid tribute to his former fighter, who relocated to Hertfordshire to train at Hoddesdon Boxing Academy under the management of Sab Leo in 2022.
Turner said, “He was an absolute star, irreplaceable. Once you met him, you would never forget him.
“He was outstanding at everything he did and we are devastated. He didn’t burn for long, but he burned very brightly for the time he did.”
Turner has set up a Go Fund me page, with the proceeds going to Moore's family.
A statement on Hoddesdon gym's Facebook page read: "It is with a heavy heart that we as a club are deeply saddened with the sudden passing of our amateur boxer Jude Moore.
“(He was) 19 years old with an infectious personality and he was a truly valuable asset to us from helping the club with coaching the babies boxing classes and the adults keep fit classes.
