Team GB secure record boxing medal haul at Tokyo 2020 Olympics
The Team GB boxing team sealed record medal haul at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as Anthony Joshua congratulated the talented ‘history makers’ after Pat McCormack took silver.
GB’s 2020 tally of six medals is a modern record, with the achievement not being matched since 1920, when the format was very different and far fewer nations entered.
Below, BBN pay homage to the medalists with a few details for fans to get to know them all, as a fair few on this list will inevitably be turning over and hitting our TV screens in the near future.

Galal Yafai (Gold)
Flyweight
Age: 28
From: Birmingham
Height: 5ft 4 1/2"
Younger brother to former long-reigning world champion Kal and European titlist Gamal, Galal hails from a talented family born to Yemeni parents. He also won gold at the last Commonwealth Games in 2018.
Lauren Price (Gold)
Middleweight
Age: 27
From: Newport
Height: 5ft 5 1/2"
A multi-talented female, Price won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games; the 2019 European Games; the 2019 World Championships; and now the 2020 Olympics, making her the mist succesful Welsh amateur boxer of all-time! The southpaw has also captained the Welsh national football team and won the Women's Premier League with Cardiff City. To top all of that off, she is also a four-time world champion kickboxer! This univeristy graduate can turn anything to gold!
Ben Whittaker (Silver)
Light-heavyweight
Age: 24
From: Darlaston
Height: 6ft 3"
This West Midlander also recently took home a silver medal at the 2019 European Games and also claimed a World Championships bronze the same year. Despite his amazing acheivements, he tweeted, "You don't win silver, you lose gold. I'm very disappointed – I feel like a failure." He the refused to wear his second-choice medal at the ceremony which drew mixed reactions. Despite what you think, an attitude like that will take him very far in such a hard sport.
Pat McCormack (Silver)
Welterweight
Age: 26
From: Sunderland
Height: 5ft 8"
Twin brother to Luke, who operates as a super-lightweight, Pat's resume as an amateur is glistening with gold and silvers. From Birtley ABC, Pat has won gold at the 2019 European Games; EU Championships; 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games; and silvers at two European Championships; 2019 World Championships; culminating in taking slver at this Olympics.
Frazer Clarke (Bronze)
Super-heavyweight
Age: 30
From: Burton upon Trent
Height: 6ft 6"
'The Eraser' was overlooked for Joe Joyce in the Rio 2016 Olympics, but he has accumulated an incredible medal hoard over the past decade, consisting of two EU Championships golds; silver 2017 European Championships; one gold and two silver English National Championships; 2018 Commonwealth gold; and now a bronze medal at his first Olympics. He has competed many times in the World Series Boxing, which should prepare him nicely for a transition to the pro ranks.
Kariss Artingstall (Bronze)
Featherweight
Age: 26
From: Manchester
Height: 5ft 4 1/2"
Kartiss is a gunner in the Royal Horse Artillery, which is a regiment that goes right the way back to the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. At national level, Artingstall won gold medals in 2012 and 2013, and the 2018 Elites. She now has a trio of top accolades with a 2019 European silver; a World Championships bronze; and an Olympic bronze.
