Martin Murray clashes with Kim Poulsen next
Former British champion faces an ex-Austrian titlist
Four-time world title challenger Martin Murray (37-5-1, 17 KOs) is determined to blast the solid Dane Kim Poulsen (28-5, 7 KOs) aside at #MTKFightNight in Liverpool on July 12.
St Helens’ Murray returns to action at the Eventim Olympia – live on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank and on iFL TV – against Denmark’s Poulsen in a 10-round contest.
Poulsen, 32 from Vienna, was last seen taking WBA Oceania super-middleweight champion Jayde Mitchell the full 10 rounds in December and won the Austrian national championship back in 2016 – but Murray is plotting a brutal welcome for the Danish-born Austrian, managed by Tamas Pradarics.
Murray said: “I believe I’m on a different level to him but for a comeback fight, it’s not going to be any kind of walkover. He’s coming to win.
“With my skills as a boxer plus my superior physical attributes, I still plan on getting him out of there and look good doing it.
“This is a massive night of boxing in Liverpool. I didn’t dream of coming back on something like this. It’s an absolutely stacked bill with some world-class Scousers on it as well as one of Manchester’s finest in Terry Flanagan.
“The Olympia is such a great venue. I’ve fought there before but this card could easily have been filling the Echo Arena.
“The Scouse fight fans are the best in the world and I can’t wait to put on a good show for them.”
Joining Murray on one of Liverpool’s biggest shows in recent times are recent world champions Rocky Fielding and Terry Flanagan, Olympic heroine Tasha Jonas, Jazza Dickens vs. Nathaniel May for the IBF European super-bantamweight title and many more.
