Manny Pacquiao finally hangs up his gloves for good
26 years on from his professional debut in 1995, eight-weight world champion Manny Pacquiao finally bows out of the sport he loves after 72 memorable fights.
He released the following statement today, "To the greatest fans and the greatest sport in the world, thank you! Thank you for all the wonderful memories. This is the hardest decision I’ve ever made, but I’m at peace with it. Chase your dreams, work hard, and watch what happens. Good bye boxing."
The Filipino's astonishing, historic, glittering career spanned over four decades and inculded some of the best fights ever against Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Ocsar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton and many more, too many to mention.He first became a world champion at flyweight in 1999 and won world titles in every division up to super-welterweight.
He is the only boxer in history to have won five Lineal titles – at fly, feather, super-feather, super-light and welterweight between 1999-2016.
