Malik Scott wants to give Deontay Wilder chance to KO AJ
Deontay Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott told BonusCodeBets: "We want Anthony Joshua and would KO him at Wembley"
The 42-year-old Philadelphian has been training fearsome puncher Deontay Wilder ever since his first career defeat to Tyson Fury in 2020. The heavyweight known as 'The Bronze Bomber' lost for a second time to Fury in their first fight together as a team in 2021, but they were victorious for the first time earlier this month when they stopped Robert Helenius in the first round of their WBC Eliminator.
In an interview, Scott spoke on a number of subjects including Fury vs Chisora III; Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva; but mostly addressed his desire to make Joshua vs Wilder at Wembley.
Deontay Wilder would be a 'rude house guest' if he fought Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium – and KO him
"What makes me more excited about Wilder-AJ at Wembley in front of 80,000 is the result. The result is, once AJ falls, all those people are going to stand up and Deontay is going to embrace them all. A disciplined Deontay is so dangerous.
"Deontay is the kind of fighter who doesn't need to punish you before he does what he does to you. He creates a comfortable environment and the minute you become comfortable, we become a rude house guest. And it's lights out from there."
I’m offering Anthony Joshua 'build back fight' against Gerald Washington
"If Anthony Joshua and his team are interested in him having a 'build back' I've got Gerald Washington ready to go. Gerald and Al Haymon have been talking – Gerald's about to get back in the ring, I believe in November sometime, but after that – Gerald's skillset and mentality is at the level it needs to be to not only be competitive against Joshua but also to beat those guys. I'm definitely interested in Washington someday facing Joshua.
"Washington is a realistic fight to be made depending on how Gerald looks in his first fight back and what AJ is looking for in an opponent. If it were up to me I'd want to keep Joshua all to Deontay but if they're looking for a 'build back' fight and they think Gerald is food and he's an easy fight, then I love that fight as well."
Fury v Chisora II was 'abuse' and the trilogy will not be competitive at all
"If people have been paying attention, Tyson Fury always said he'd fight Derek Chisora again and give him another opportunity. The last time they fought it was abuse, the way Fury handled him. I'm happy Derek is getting the opportunity to get some more money, get the opportunity to be under the lights because Derek will tell you he's towards the end of his career.
“But it says a lot about Tyson Fury that he's a man of his word and gives his friend a shot at the title again and a shot at good money. But I can't see that fight being competitive at all."
Jake Paul is better than people think – he can ‘f*** up’ opponents
"Jake Paul is better than people give him credit for. I said this in the beginning when he knocked out Nate Robinson, and everyone was acting like they were ready to hop into the ring with him and my exact words were 'don't get in the ring with that white boy guys, he's going to f**k all you guys up' . All you entertainers, rappers and people who think they can just hop in the ring with him – no that is not it.
“There are professional fighters that he'll beat. I'm not talking about fighters that are coming from MMA, no. I'm talking about professional boxers that he'll beat in 4-6 round fights, things like that. We need to get off the thing that he's just an influencer, no – he's not looking like an influencer when he fights. He's been putting guys to sleep, catching guys and setting guys up.
“And in the gym, he's boxing credible guys. My good friend from Detroit Rydell Booker just left camp with Jake Paul and he said 'Malik the dude is good for his level of experience'. Paul learned a lot from Rydell."
Jake Paul will beat Tommy Fury easily but he won't hurt Anderson Silva
"Jake Paul will beat Tommy Fury. I'm just not impressed with Tommy. I've never seen him doing anything in a boxing ring besides having the last name Fury. You got to show me you can fight. Hughie Fury can fight and box, I don't care how many losses he's got. Tyson Fury can fight and box. Tyson's dad can fight and box. But Tommy Fury has just not shown me anything, I think Paul just beats him.
"I'm not sure if Paul KO's Anderson Silva – he's a veteran and knows how to protect himself. It may go to a decision. Paul may win pretty obviously. But I can't see Silva getting hurt or knocked out by Paul, nothing like that. Silva knows how to protect himself. He's been in with real killers, this is the highest pedigree opponent that Paul has fought, even if he's 47-years-old."
