Magali Rodríguez motivated by WBC crown defence
The current WBC Silver champion in the super-lightweight division Magali Rodríguez (22-6-3, 9KO) talked about the first defence of her crown against Estelle Mossely (11-0, 1KO) on April 28 in Tajikistan.
The 30-year-old Magali will face another French national for the title she won on June 11 against Victoire Piteau, winning via mixed decision in saint-Maur, France.
This time though, she faces an unbeaten French professional who has held the IBO female lightweight title since 2019. As an amateur, Mossely won gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2016 World Championships. As of October 2022, she is ranked as the world's third best active female lightweight by The Ring and second by BoxRec
Closing her preparation in Monterrey, Mexican Magali assured that even though she comes from a lighter division, super-lightweight has been a weight where she has always felt comfortable and strong.
Regarding her preparation, she was clear in saying that she has focused a lot on her punching and speed and that she will travel to Tajikistan with the firm conviction of returning to Mexico with a great victory.
