Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell will clash in December
Date confirmed for Campbell-Garcia
The World Boxing Council’s interim lightweight title fight, between the American ‘King’ Ryan Garcia (20-0, 17KOs) and Briton Luke Campbell (20-3, 16KOs), will take place on December 5, at a venue yet to be confirmed, which will be broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.
Garcia, the 22-year-old WBC Silver Lightweight Champion (20-0, 17 KOs), has not fought since he knocked out Francisco Fonseca in the first round in February.
Olympic gold medallist Campbell is coming off a decision loss in a great fight against WBC franchise champion Vasyl Lomachenko of Ukraine in Lonond in August of last year.
Garcia has been highly touted as the future of boxing, but Campbel is experienced, gutsy and wily, and many believe experience could conquer youth in this contest.
The pair had been ordered to face each other for the WBC 'interim' title in July this year, with the winner then fighting WBC World lightweight champion Devin Haney (24-0, 15KOs).
They agreed terms to fight in August, thanks to the joint work of the promoters Golden Boy Promotions and Matchroom Boxing.
