Pound-for-pound superstar Vasiliy Lomachenko heading to London
August 31 brings the biggest fight the United Kingdom is going to host this year. Vasiliy Lomachenko comes to London with his two titles, in search of the third one, to face Luke Campbell. As BBN previously reported, everything is ready for one of the biggest spectacles this year.
The Ukrainian fighter who is WBA and WBO lightweight champion, wants to add the vacant WBC belt. But first, he has to clash with Campbell, who is ranked No.1 in this version. It is the ultimate pound-for-pound battle of the year, and be sure not to miss it.
Lomachenko (13-1 10 KOs) was a two-time Olympic champion in the featherweight and lightweight categories. The Hi-Tech as the fans call him, is arguably one of the best ever amateur boxers, having won 396 fights and losing just once, against Albert Selimov. He would later get his revenge on two occasions. Loma's latest fight was against another UK fighter, Anthony Crolla, which he easily won by a TKO in round 4. Before that, he had two matches in which he won both of the above-mentioned belts.
Lomachenko took the WBO belt from Jose Pedraza on a unanimous decision in December 2018, while in May same year defeated the famous Jorge Linares stripping him of a WBA title.
Luke Campbell (20-2, 16 KOs) was also an Olympic gold medalist, only in the bantamweight category. Cool Hand, which is his nickname, once held WBC Silver belt and fought for the WBA title against Jorge Linares, but lost after a close contest by a split decision. The Venezuelan would later lose that belt to Lomachenko. Following that failure, Campbell defeated Yvan Mendy the guy who inflicted him the first pro loss, and in the latest fight knocked out the Mexican, Adrian Young.
For hIm, this is a unique chance to become the best lightweight boxer on the planet and to be the No.1 fighter in the UK. Still, it will be a hard task for the 31-year old from Hull. He himself admitted that recently for the BBC.com.
The odds are not in his favor and are suggesting that his triumph would be a sensation. According to Freebets.com, Campbell's win is set between 6/1 at Ladbrokes and 8/1 at Betway. On the other hand, Lomachenko's another success is paid 1/14 with the same bookies. A draw is 25.

Although Cool Hand, 5-foot-7, is taller two inches than the rival, and has a reach 5 1/2 inches longer he can't compete with the footwork and hand speed Lomachenko has. According to the majority of boxing experts, that is something which is the Ukrainian's biggest strength. Many are saying that his strong ounces made the difference in the ring, but in fact, these two aspects of boxing are his most important weapons.
Because of that and Loma's history, the bookies are giving him a massive advantage in this clash.
The venue of the fight is O2 Arena.
