Lloyd Ellett all business after weighing in ahead of Ryan Toms clash
Light-middleweight prospect Lloyd Ellett (17-0) weighed in at The Amex Stadium in Falmer ahead of his Friday fight night against former English title challenger Ryan Toms (13-11-2) at the Metropole Hotel in Brighton.
“Weighed in bang on,” explained the ‘Lightning Bolt’. “I was fine making the weight, I had two meals on the morning of the weigh-in so I was absolutely fine and I’m feeling great, all ready to go!”
The 28-year-old from Brighton headlines the Crusader Events show, run by former World heavyweight challenger Scott Welch, for the fourth time in his four year professional boxing career.
The 154-pounder’s 18th opponent is 33-year-old southpaw Ryan Toms, hailing from Middlesex, and is a two-time Southern Area champion and an English title challenger.
Recently signed to Queensberry Promotions, the Box Nation fighter said of his forthcoming opponent, “He’s been a Southern Area champ and mixed with some good names, he’s probably the best I’ve faced as a pro, but I’ve fought a load of southpaws in the past and can deal with them quite well”
Ellett has a strong following of fans in his coastal hometown and the support is steadily increasing even further after forming a tight relationship with his childhood football club, Brighton and Hove Albion.
Manager Scott Welch arranged for the Championship team to host the weigh-in on Thursday 1st October.
The Seagulls fan commented, “The weigh-in was by the players tunnel at The Amex and we had a load of photos on the pitch, it went really well.
“I’d like to say thanks to Brighton FC for their support, they’ve been great, featuring me regularly in the programmes and tweeting me messages of support.
“The show is more or less sold out, I’ve got about 500 fans in there tonight. There’ll all be chanting ‘Seagulls’, especially with David Stockdale walking to the ring with me.”
Stockdale is the current first team goalkeeper at Brighton FC and previously made over 50 appearances for Fulham FC in the Premier League.
“I’m excited! It’s a little bit more of a challenge so I get to put my skills to the test and prove to people where I’m at with a good performance.”
The Brighton-based boxer concluded with a message to his backing, “Thank you for all the support and especially those who have bought tickets to come and watch, and to my sponsors The Shore Group, KSD, and Pingala Media.”
The undercard will feature Sussex southpaw Nicky Jenman (13-8-1), Shoreham’s Marcus Eaton (5-0-1), unbeaten Surrey heavyweight Nick Webb (2-0), middleweight Ben Butler (1-0) from Brighton, and Barry McGuigan’s latest protégé Josh ‘The Punisher’ Pritchard (3-0).
