Lawrence Okolie moves up to European level
Undefeated cruiserweight star Lawrence Okolie (13-0, 10 KOs) is all set to rise above the domestic scene by facing European champion Yves Ngabu (20-0, 14 KOs) in his next scheduled fight on Saturday, 26th October 2019 at the O2 Arena, London.
Defending champion Ngabu sat ringside to witness the British and Commonwealth cruiserweight champ stop Mariano Angel Gudino at the O2 Arena in July in the second defence of his WBA Continetal strap.
Belgian Ngabu is being trained by Dominic Ingle in Sheffield. He last fought in February, when he won a dominant 12-round unanimous decision over Micki Nielsen.
The contest will serve the 30-year-old with his third defence of the coveted title and his first fight outside of his homeland.
Olympian Okolie, 26-years-old from Hackney, vyes for his fourth title in just two-and-a-half-years as a professional boxer. A win will take him a step closer to world title level.
The European title clash occupies the stellar undercard of the WBSS super-lightweight final between Scot Josh Taylor (15-0) and American Regis Prograis (24-0), where the winner will walk away with the WBA 'Super' and IBF world titles and the WBC Diamond belt, along with the coveted Ali Trophy.
