RIP Earnie Shavers
Former heavyweight contender Earnie Shavers, known for his legendary punching power, has reportedly passed away aged 78-years-old.
Shavers (74-14-1, 68KOs) is considered by many to be one of the hardest punching heavyweights of all-time.
Known as the ‘The Acorn’ Earnie Dee Shaver was born August 31, 1944, in Garland, Alabama, America.
He competed as a professional boxer between 1969 and 1995, and became two-time world heavyweight championship challenger.
He quickly became known for being one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight boxing history. He scored 68 knockout wins, including 23 in the first round. He holds a 76.4% overall knockout ratio.
