Teraji seeks redemption against Yabuki
At the Korakuen Hanten in Tokyo, Japan, Misako Boxing Gym hosted a press conference featuring former WBC light-fly world champion, Japanese Kenshiro Teraji, who confirmed he is seeking a rematch against the new champion, Masamichi Yabuki.
After rumours started circulating about his retirement, Teraji brushed them aside, determined to try and become world champion again, by having a rematch against compatriot Masamichi Yabuki.
On September 22nd in Kyoto, Japan, Teraji was dethroned via technical knockout in the 10th round by Yabuki, failing in the ninth defence of the WBC light flyweight title and losing his undefeated in professional boxing.
Before his bout with Yabuki, Teraji suffered from COVID 19 on August 25. So, Teraji vs Yabuki fight was postponed from September 10 to September 22.
Teraji commented at the conference: “When I lost the world crown, I was very sad and stayed at home without going out. Being defeated by Yabuki, my moral shock was so great, as I had full confidence in defeating him. But everything went differently than my plans, and a feeling of retirement from boxing briefly came to my mind. But then, after a few difficult weeks elapsed, I began to assimilate it all, and a positive idea emerged of returning to boxing with more even enthusiasm and with the intention of taking revenge against Yabuki for my honor.”
