Altringham’s George Brennan has become the latest addition to Kieran Farrell’s ever growing stable in Manchester. The 19 year old Super Bantamweight, who makes his debut at Bowlers Arena on September 2nd, has had the pleasure of sparring both Jamie and Gavin McDonnell and was delighted with the experience of sparring the talented brothers. “It was a great experience. I felt really good against them, as if I belonged in the same ring as them. They are both quality fighters, Jamie is really hard to hit. It was brilliant to share a ring in sparring at this stage in my career with the likes of the McDonnell’s.” Brennan recently decided to make the jump into the paid ranks after 67 amateur fights which included a gold in the respected Celtic Box Cup, an appearance for England in Poland and making the quarter finals of the ABA’s. The Manchester native has now linked up with Kieran Farrell and is delighted with the way things are going as a professional. “Training with Kieran has be really good. I’m learning lots; my boxing ability has come on a lot and I’m adapting to the pro style really well.” “I always wanted to turn pro and after Kieran saw me spar Tyrone Nurse at his gym we initially spoke about the possibility to turn pro. After another sparring session and a meeting I couldn’t refuse the opportunity to turn professional.” Brennan is preparing for his debut around his day job, which is working for Kellogg’s! The likable 122 pounder spoke about his daily routine balancing a full time job with preparation for his professional debut. “I work shifts so I start work at 7 and finish at 3. I then go for my run, go home, eat then go to the gym. I’m fortunate work doesn’t really affect my training and I’ve found a good balance. I just can’t wait for September 2nd now!” Tickets for September 2nd are available directly from George through social media.
