Kash Farooq makes a sensational third defence of his British bantamweight title by defeating Duane Winters inside one round
Unbeaten champion Kash Farooq (13-0) defended his British bantamweight title on Saturday, August 17 against challenger Duane Winters (11-2) at the Raddison Blu in Glasgow, live on BBC Scotland.
The champion forced the challenger back throughout the short contest and threw a variety of different shots that Winters couldn't match, opting to throw the occasional jab on the back foot in an unsuccessful attempt to keep the champ at bay. A solid straight right caught Winters midway through the round and he continued to search for the same shot, sensing it had done some damage. However, it was a left hook to the body that downed Duane, a former Southern Area titlist, who couldn't recover to his feet to beat the referee's count, which signalled the end of the fight with just two seconds left in the opening round.
