Kash Ali aims for second professional title in 20th bout
Dennis Hobson, under the Fight Academy banner, has announced a second live show of 2021.
With the first show taking place at Sheffield Arena Car Park on Friday 21, the next will be hot on the heels at the same venue and just a week later – on Friday May 28. A limited number of fans will be able to attend both events, with TV coverage details to follow shortly.
On the May 28 card, Rotherham heavyweight hopeful, Kash Ali (18-1, 9KOs), will bid to become the new International Boxing Federation (IBF) European king when he faces big-punching Czech fighter Tomas Salek (15-2, 13KOs) in a tough fight for the vacant crown.
Ali’s only defeat in 19 outings is a 2019 disqualification reverse to Liverpool’s David Price, and a win will throw him into the mix of a lively domestic scene that features Daniel Dubois, Nathan Gorman and Fabio Wardley.
Salek will be a real test for the British fighter though, having knocked out 13 opponents in 15 wins, with only two defeats on his record.
Joining the heavyweights on the night will be unbeaten Wolverhampton's Conah Walker (8-0-1, 2KOs) as he clashes with Walsall's Levi Ferguson (5-1) for the vacant Midlands Area welterweight title.
Dennis Hobson said: “I’ve been working with my partner Steve Crump, who is fantastic. We’ve got a great team together, and there’s been so much work going on behind the scenes over the last couple of months. Our plans are going to change the landscape of British boxing, and give many more opportunities for the fighters out there, and for the fans to see regular, live shows with competitive title fights.
“The headliner for our second show on May 28 is one I’m really looking forward to. The heavyweights in the UK are on fire at the moment, and I believe Kash Ali has a big part to play in that, and beyond. This fight against Salek is a really dangerous one though. It’s a massive opportunity for both of them to make a name for themselves on the European scene, and whoever wins will put their name right in the frame for some huge fights.
“Salek’s record proves that he is a real threat, he’s a knockout puncher but we have confidence in Kash’s ability. He works really well with his trainer Richard Towers, is improving constantly, and we believe we’ll see a career-best performance from him.”
More undercard details will be revealed shortly.
