Undercard Highlights: Felix Cash always provides fireworks when he fights, so his matchup with Celso Neves should give fans a knockout performance to look forward to, but the fight, or more precisely the fighter, everyone will want to see will be unbeaten super-bantamweight Hopey Price in a eight-rounder against Jonathan Santana.
Background: The 29-year-old Mexican hasn't lost in over three-and-a-half years. He is currently on a nine-fght win streak which he will be looking to take into double figures in Leeds. He has won his last three contests by knockout, which includes the big upset against then-unbeaten Isaac Lowe in London.
This will be Warrington’s first fight against a Mexican opponent since he suffered his only career defeat to Mauricio Lara last year. He returns to the familiar venue where he regained his IBF belt with a seventh-round knockout over Spaniard Kiko Martinez earlier in March this year. His last two victories have come via knockout and he is promising another KO this Saturday night, claiming he's stronger than ever and sitting down on his shots more.
What's been said?
Josh Warrington: "Luis Alberto Lopez is full of confidence. He’s showing the champ no respect whatsoever. We know he’s got power; we know he knows how to finish people. He strongly believes that he’s going to do what his Mexican friend Mauricio Lara did and come over here and blast me out. I’ve got other ideas.
"I feel the strongest I ever have done in my career. I’m sitting down on my punches a lot more. The power has always been there. I’ve never really focused on bringing it but now I am. I like them early nights to be honest with you. It won’t go the 12. I’m fully focused on doing a job and getting the show closed early."
Luis Alberto Lopez: “It’s great to be here once again, and this time to be facing a champion. I always come here as a warrior for war and I won’t be going home without that World Title. I come full of capabilities, full of confidence in my preparation. I come to do what I always do, turn fights on their head and beat opponents when I’m not expected to do so. I’ll be winning this title. I’m coming for the knockout, that’s what I’ve come for. He shouldn’t believe what he sees on the videos. I’m a completely different proposition when I’m in the ring and that’s what I’m coming to do, I’m coming to win.”
Predictions: Tim Rickson, BBN Editor: “Warrington is looking in very good shape in the gym, and he's becoming a bit more focused on knockouts than he has before in his career. I know he's always been a bit annoyed when people have said he desn't hit hard, but he's looking more muscly than ever and claims to be sitting down on his shots more, which tells me he is working hard to develop stronger shots. Alberto Lopez has never been stopped, despite two losses over the 10-round distance. I think Josh Warrington will be looking for a statement win and to become the first person to stop this opponent. Warrington to win by knockout in rounds 7-12.”
