Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall rematch confirmed
Bitter rivals Josh Taylor (19-0, 13KO) and Jack Catterall (26-1, 13KO) are set to rematch at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on March 4, live on Sky Sports.
BOXXER are holding a press conference in Manchester on January 23 to formally announce the show, two days after Eubank Jr. vs Smith.
WBO super-lightweight champion Taylor will defend his world title to former for Catterall one year and one week on from their first fight in February 2022.
Their initial meeting caused quite a stir after the split decision verdict was awarded to Taylor, despite being cut, floored and deducted a point. The BBBofC even called ringside judge Ian John-Lewis in for questioning to explain his 114-111 scorecard and was punished by being downgraded from an A Star Class to an A Class Official.
Promoter Ben Shalom stated his disappointment at the time, "I love this sport and we try to keep our integrity, but tonight is really difficult. That's heartbreaking for Jack. I’m not just embarrassed, I’m really angry."
Since then, 'The Tartan Tornado' has split with Shane McGuigan to link up with new trainer Joe McNally.
Trained by Jamie Moore, 'El Gato' believes this change will be his rival's undoing, “In my opinion, you would need a few fights to get settled with new methods. I don’t think Joe can change him overnight. It will be interesting.”
