David Higgins gives his view on Joe Joyce vs Joseph Parker
Juggernaut Joyce and Kiwi Parker expected to go at least 10 rounds together
Betfred’s Lightweight Boxing Show have been speaking to Joseph Parker’s promoter David Higgins regarding the ‘new’ Joseph Parker and revealed his view on who wins this weekend's WBO Interim heavyweight title fight in Manchester against undefeated 'Juggernaut' Joe Joyce, live on BT Sport Box Office.David Higgins on the ‘new’ Joseph Parker:
“Joseph Parker is a much better fighter today than he was four or five years ago. He’s more confident, self-assured, calmer and more present in the ring. You can see that in the performances. I’d go as far to say that Joe Joyce is a harder fight than Anthony Joshua was back in 2018. It’s a much better Joseph Parker so I believe he will win the fight.”
David Higgins’ prediction for Joseph Parker vs Joe Joyce:
“I don’t pretend to be an expert on the technicalities of boxing. They’re both very durable. Parker got headbutted by Dillian Whyte and got straight back up. Derek Chisora put him down and he got straight back up. I’ve never seen Joseph Parker be really hurt by a punch. Joyce is also well known for his durability. That suggests, unless someone gets lucky, that it will be a long war. It could go into the later rounds and some suggest that would suit Joe Joyce but I believe the opposite. Parker’s the veteran who has fought big names in the late rounds. He went 12 rounds with Carlos Takam and won the fight and he went 12 rounds with Andy Ruiz and won the fight. He’s also gone 12 rounds with Derek Chisora twice and won both fights. There was Dillian Whyte too, but he got lucky. Those are big name fighters. Joe Joyce hasn’t been tested at that level.”
Sporting Index Preview
Joe Joyce will remain unbeaten by stopping Joseph Parker in the 10th round of their heavyweight clash on Saturday, according to predictions from Sporting Index.
The spread betting experts forecast a 31st minute stoppage in favour of the older fighter, who is the strong 1/2 favourite to record his fifteenth career win.
Joyce is 12/5 to land a knockout blow, but if the fight goes the distance, the 37-year-old is 29/20 to win on points, ahead of Parker at 3/1.
Neville Burdock, Head of Sportsbook at Sporting Index, said: “Joe Joyce may have come late to pro boxing but he is certainly making up for lost time and we think Joseph Parker will be the next rival to be swept aside, with a 31st minute stoppage predicted.
“The older fighter is a strong favourite at 1/2 while Parker is a 6/4 shot and the winner could be on for a huge potential clash as the mandatory challenger to Oleksandr Usyk.”
