Jordan Joseph is confident of winning Ultimate Boxxer II on November 2
Former Southern-Area title challenger Jordan Joseph is in fine spirits as he prepares for the much anticipated Ultimate Boxxer tournament at The Indigo at The O2 on November 2nd.
The 23-year-old has adjusted his training methods accordingly to suit the format of the tournament, with contests lasting three rounds, with each competitor fighting up to three times on the night.
“Camp has been going really well and I’m actually really happy with the progress we have made so far in adapting to the new style and we have been upping the pace and intensity for those three round fights. I’m coming to take that prize, I’m taking first place!”
The Hemel-Hempstead light-heavyweight will be making his second outing of the year and his first return to the ring since his loss to former Olympic Bronze Medalist Joshua Buatsi, but Joseph insists that the defeat has not held him back and was relishing the challenge of this tournament when the opportunity presented itself.
“The Buatsi fight was a learning experience – like all losses are – but we only had three weeks notice for that fight. We’ve definitely moved on from there and we’ve come back bigger and better. I was supposed to be in the Light Heavyweight Fight Cup beforehand, before this opportunity (Ultimate Boxxer) came up. My team and I looked at it, we thought it was a great opportunity to take and I jumped at it!”
Another fighter due to partake in the Ultimate Boxxer tournament is ‘Dazzlin’ Darrel Church – an opponent Joseph knows all too well.
Both fighters squared off in a Southern Area title eliminator at the York Hall last November, with Joseph securing an eighth-round stoppage win, after Church retired through an eye injury.
The Essex light heavyweight has since been calling for a rematch and he may just get his chance after both fighters put pen to paper to confirm their participation in the Ultimate Boxxer tournament.
Joseph has welcomed the idea of a rematch and went on to say: “I’d fight Darrel Church again, bring it on! I’ll fight anyone in that tournament. The result stays the same though!”.
