Jonathan Gonzalez injured
WBC light flyweight champion Kenshiro “The Amazing Boy” Teraji was scheduled to face WBO champion Jonathan “Bomba” González at Ariake Arena in Koto-Ku, Japan on April 8.
Unfortunately González fell ill with pneumonia, so he will not be able to be 100% for this important fight and had to withdraw from the championship bout.
Teraji’s team is now looking for a rival so that he can defend his WBC title on the already scheduled card.
Kenshiro (20-1, 12 KOs) captured his first world championship when he defeated Ganigan Lopez for the WBC 108-pound belt. He made eight successful defenses before losing by TKO in the 10th round to Masamichi Yabuki.
The feisty 31-year-old avenged his loss by knocking out Yabuki in the third round of their rematch to regain the title. Teraji then scored the most impressive victory of his career last November by knocking out Hiroto Kyoguchi in the seventh round to unify the WBC and WBA championships.
More news will be updated soon.
