“Scrappy” demolished Batista in WBA eliminator
by Jesús Milano
John Ramirez (13-0, 9KO) had a spectacular night at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, and knocked out Ronal Batista (15-4, 9KO) in four rounds during their WBA super flyweight eliminator fight on Saturday night, October 21.
The American showed his authority in the ring and displayed great speed against the Panamanian in a fight that he dominated at every distance for most of the fight to take the win.
Whether it was with work from the outside or with the exchange in the short distance, “Scrappy” always remained in advantage despite the bravery and insistence of 26-year-old Batista, who was willing to give everything but was overcome by the quality of the American fighter.
In the fourth round, Ramirez managed to knock Panama City's Batista down twice and with the punishment he was receiving, the fight was decided at that moment as a brilliant victory for the new challenger of the category, who is 27-years-old and is a native of Los Angeles.
Ramirez won his 13th fight, while he has knocked out 9 opponents. For his part, Batista improved his record to 15 wins, 4 losses and 4 knockouts.
The WBA super flyweight champion is Kazuto Ioka.
