The latest issue of Joe’s Jab discusses developments to debut in Doncaster
Joe ‘The Moroccan Machine’ Elfidh – a two-weight Central Area title contender who shared the ring with English, British, Commonwealth and World champions – is now an emerging promoter with regular shows in Kent and the East Midlands with an ever-expanding roster of talented fighters.
The head honcho of JE Promotions very kindly takes time out every week to write a column exclusive to BBN:
Triple Header
There’re three big shows for JE Promotions all coming up in the next few weeks.
First up is ‘Unleashed’ at Mote Park on February 23, featuring Lenny Fuller, Luke Gibb and Martin Hillman.
Then, on March 9, we are back at the North Notts Arena for our 10th event at the venue, three years on from when JE Promotions first introduced pro boxing to Worksop in March 2016. Headlining the bumper bill will be young Sonny Boy Price, along with unbeaten Kyle Fox.
Finally, March 16 is a big event, titled ‘No Hype Required’, when Ekow Essuman has his acid test in a maiden English welterweight title defence to Tyrone Nurse at the Harvey Haddon Sports Centre.
All three shows are a collaboration with Scott Calow Boxing and will have over 30 fighters competing combined.
Next, we will be looking at expanding to Doncaster now that we’ve got enough lads to put shows on in the area. It’ll be the next location for our events and we will be looking to book a venue from May onwards.
'Bad News' for Heavyweight Central Area title shot
I have manoeuvred Mark 'Bad News' Bennett (3-0) into the mandatory position to challege for Kash Ali's Central Area heavyweight title.
The current titleholder from Birmingham, who is currently 14-0, is due to fight next week, I think against Kamil Sokolowski. The timing is perfect because Mark is fighting on March 16 so can be ready very soon after if Ali wants it in April or May time.
Whatever happens, we are here and we are ready. We're just waiting on them now.
Fresh blood
Jimmy Peckham and Jordan Smith are my newest debutants who will both be appearing on my next Maidstone show, which will either be held on April 27 or May 4.
