Joe Joyce vs Daniel Dubois is on
The BBBofC announced on April 24: Following agreement being reached between the parties, the above contest to be promoted by Frank Warren will take place on a date and at a venue as yet to be advised.
It proves many naysayers wrong, as most fight fans and boxing insiders were adamant the fight would never take place.
The purse bids were initially called in March with bids to be sumbitted by April 10, but a request from both parties saw the bids delayed until April 24.
Dubois' manager Frank Warren will promote the show that was ordered by the Board to take place by the end of August 2019. The contest is also for Joyce’s Commonwealth heavyweight championship.
'Juggernaught' Joe Joyce (8-0, 8KOs), 33 from Putney, is currently the Commonwealth heavyweight champion and picked up the WBA Gold belt in his last fight with former world champion Bermane Stiverne (25-3-1, 21KOs).
'Dynamite' Daniel Dubois (10-0, 9KOs), 21 from Greenwich, has picked up four titles so far in his two-year-long professional career – WBC Youth; Southern Area; English; and WBO European heavyweight titles.
The pair meeting for the coveted Lonsdale belt provides both boxers a huge boost in credibility for agreeing to fight such a risky opponent so early on in their respective pro careers.
