“Chiquito” Haro is the new WBC Straw Weight Youth World Champion
A new young boxing hero! Jesús “Chiquito” Haro defeated a tough Francisco “Pulga” Araujo by split decision to become the new World Boxing Council Straw Youth Champion, in the main fight presented by Chiquita González Boxing and PHILLIPS – ASSA ABLOY.
After 10 rounds in the fight at the Marbet Hall, “Chiquito” Haro (9-1) won on two judges’ cards, 97-94 and 97-95, while another judge saw Araujo as the winner ( 8-1, 6 KOs) for 96-95.
“Chiquito” Haro, fought intelligently. Smart without risking too much and waiting for his rival. He landed a couple of lefts to Araujo, who with punching power from his side landed a right late in the round, but without doing the expected damage.
Haro moved around the ring and the then undefeated Araujo, aware that the power was on his side, pressed at all times. After four rounds the fight was level, as announced.
“Chiquito” Haro improved as the rounds passed and after the eighth he was already up on two of the scores; the fight was even more in Haro´s favor when in the seventh round with a powerful right hand caused bleeding in the nose of Araujo.
Thus, Jesús “Chiquito” Haro, who is supported by former world champion Humberto “Chiquita” González, was consecrated as Youth world champion.
The card was presented by Chiquita González Boxing and PHILLIPS – ASSA ABLOY, the best brand of padlocks and locks in Mexico, which remain committed to supporting the young prospects of boxing in what was the second of five performances for which they expanded their alliance for this 2022.
