Charlo and Castaño alight the weigh-in
Unified WBC, WBA, and IBF world champion Jermell Charlo, and the WBO world champion Brian Castaño rematch this Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif.
Charlo vs. Castaño II was announced for March 19 but was rescheduled after Brian sustained an injury at his training camp.
Charlo and Castaño squared off for an exciting 12 rounds on July 17, 2021, ending in a split decision draw. Each fighter believed he had done enough to raise his hand in the first fight and in this fight, they will seek to leave absolutely no doubt.
Houston’s Charlo (34-1-1, 18 KOs) became a unified champion in September 2020, dropping Jeison Rosario three times on his way to an eighth-round knockout.
Castaño, 32, (17-0-2, 12 KOs), put on a spectacular performance to become world champion in February 2021, dominating Brazilian Patrick Teixeira.
This Friday, both warriors passed the weigh-in, showing that they are in great condition for this crucially important fight. Charlo weighed 152.7 pounds, while Castaño was 153.7 pounds.
The fight is organized by Premier Boxing Champions and will be broadcast on Showtime.
