Jeremy Bernardino crowned WBC Intercontinental Youth Champion
This Saturday, April 8, in the main event of a card held at the Espace Léo Ferré in Fontvieille, Monaco, in a duel of French prospects, Jeremy “Tidje” Bernardin (10-2), defeated Joe Callea (7-1) by unanimous decision to reclaim the vacant World Boxing Council Youth Intercontinental featherweight title.
Jeremy boxed at his best against unbeaten Joe, who both showed great heart throughout the fight.
Judges Christophe Fernandez and Juergen Langos saw the fight 78-74, while Stephane Nicolo 79-73. The Referee was Robert Verwijs and the Supervisor was WBC Vice President Houcine Houichi.
Callea was unbeaten in seven bouts before the fight, but had never faced a winning fighter before.
22 from Marne, Bernardin won the same WBC Youth title Rey Vargas once held before, who went on to become a two-weight world champion.
