JE Promotions presents their seven-fight card on October 6: The Homecoming
The eighth JE Promotions event at Mote Hall, Maidstone on October 6, title 'The Homecoming', features three up-and-coming unbeaten talents, a Southern Area title contender, plus an amateur champion making his pro boxing debut.
British Challenge belt super-middleweight champion Charlie ‘The Animal’ Shane (6-0) is keen to have his first fight with his new team in the corner from the Kent Gloves gym.
The 27-year-old southpaw faces Bryn ‘The Bruiser’ Wain (0-20) over six-rounds at super-middleweight, which is due to be his last home fight before manager Joe Elfidh plans to put an application to the Board straight after the contest for Shane to challenge for the vacant Southern Area title, last held by Cello Renda, now retired.
Chelmsford’s Tom ‘Micro Machine’ McGinley (5-1) has a run out against Manchester’s Steven Maguire (0-4) whilst he awaits the date for his mandated Southern Area title super-bantamweight title shot at champion Duane Winters (10-1).
The 31-year-old British Challenge belt champion, trained by Russ Smith at the Champions Gym, was due face Winters at the UWE Exhibition and Conference Centre in Filton, Bristol on the same night that heavyweight kingpin Anthony Joshua KO’d Alexander Povetkin in seven at Wembley Stadium, but their fight was cancelled and is still awaiting a return date.
Luke Gibb (3-1) returns to action for the first time since his sole pro career defeat to Jordan ‘Baby J’ Ellison (9-12) when contesting for the British Challenge lightweight belt last February.
Rejuvenated after an extended break from boxing, the Bexleyheath boxer tackles Blackburn’s Naheem Chaudry (0-27) over six-rounds.
The former England International has been experiencing sparring with his old Team GB teammate Luke Campbell in preparation for his comeback.
Featherweight Jack Budge (2-0), 23-years-old from High Halstow, Kent, has his third pro fight against Margate’s Ricky Leach (3-29-1).
It’s only the second appearance under the JE Promotions banner for the former national amateur champion having initially signed with Chris Sanigar in 2016 when working as an apprentice jockey in Lambourn, Berkshire.
After suffering an horrendous injury that broke his cheekbone and nose, Budge relocated back home to Kent.
Margate light-heavyweight Paul ‘Bomber’ Brown (2-0), 27, kicked off the last show with a very comfortable points win over Dinnington’s Darren Snow (5-24-1), who is also signed to JE Promotions.
The former Southern Counties ABA champion chalked up his second shutout points win and takes part in another four-rounder against Surrey’s Richard Harrison (3-30), hoping to make it a hattrick of wins.
Debutant Aidan Cassidy, 23 from Sittingbourne, will finally get to make his pro bow. The light-heavyweight talent was all set to make his inauguration into the pro ranks against the aforementioned Harrison on July 7 but was left devastated at the last-minute cancellation just one day before fight night.
The Haringey Box Cup silver medallist trains out of the Kent Gloves Boxing Gym under the tutelage of trainer Simon Gildea. He moved from Hackney to Kent, aged 14, but spent his spent his last three years as an amateur representing Repton ABC.
Cassidy has ambitions to win the Southern Area title but claims to want to concentrate on marking his professional debut with a good win first.
Southern Area title contender John ‘The Don’ Brennan (9-5-1), 33 from Slough, tackles London-based Italian boxer Victor Edagha (0-40-1) over four-rounds at the super-welterweight limit.
Promoter Joe Elfidh commented on the stacked card, “This next show has some great lads out on display. Paul Brown is looking better with each fight; ‘Gibbo’ is back and brings a huge crowd with him; Charlie Shane needs to impress if he’s to challenge for the Southern Area next and Aidan Cassidy is finally raring to go in his pro debut – it’s set be a fantastic show!”
