Former rivals James Dickens and Martin Ward clash for vacant British super-bantamweight title on July 27
JAMES DICKENS (23-3) v MARTIN WARD (26-4-1)
Following Thomas Patrick Ward vacating the British Championship, the Stewards have approved the above contest to be promoted by Dennis Hobson, which will take place on Friday, 27th July 2018 at Rainton Meadows. The winner to waive grace and defend when called upon to do so.
West Rainton's Martin Ward, 30, gets the home advantage in County Durham against Liverpool's 'Jazza', 27.
The pair met previously in November 2015 for the same title, which ended in a split decision win for Dickens.
Ward is a former British titleholder, winning the coveted Lord Lonsdale belt against Jason Booth in 2012, but conceded the title in his first defence to Lee Haskins in 2013.
'Jazza' is also a former British belt-holder and also has the English title in his trophy cabinet. He fought Cuban superstar Guillermo Rigondeaux for the WBA Super world super-bantamweight title in 2016 but was unable to continue after round two due to a broken jaw.
