Cullen has his sights set for the top as he believes great things are still to come
Jack Cullen is confident ahead of his matchup against Zak Chelli in the Echo Arena tonight
30-year-old British and Commonwealth champion Jack Cullen (24-4-1, 10 KOs) is preparing to face off against Zac Chelli (14-2-1, 7 KOs) tonight on the undercard of Natasha Jonas vs Mikaela Mayer tonight in Liverpool.
The pair previously met in 2020 in an exciting back-and-forth matchup declared a split decision draw. Many fight fans thought Chelli had just nicked it. Though, fortunately for Cullen, no winner was declared and he will have a chance to prove the doubters wrong later on this evening.
Speaking to Sky Sports, 'Little Lever's Meat Cleaver' claims that he is a different fighter from his last outing with Chelli, confident that we will see a different man in the ring tonight.
“I’ve watched it back and I’m not gonna lie, I was f____ng terrible, I was absolutely garbage. Comparing the fighter I am now to the one I was then, four years ago. I’m a totally different fighter. You’ll see that on Saturday night on fight night.”
The current British and Commonwealth champion is coming off the back of a fantastic stoppage win over Mark Hefron. The Lancashire-born fighter appears to be oozing confidence, as he is adamant that this is only the beginning of many good things to come in his boxing career.
“It was great winning the British and Commonwealth title. I want to get a defence or two defences of it, and I want to look for bigger and better titles."
Cullen is currently rated as the IBF #14. A win over tonight will likely see him move into the top 10, ever closer to his world title dream, though with Saul Alvarez in the driving seat at Super Middleweight, getting his hands on the belt appears to be an impossibly difficult task.
