Undercard Highlights
There's two more title fights as hard-hitting Irishman Stevie 'The Hitman' McKenna (10-0, 9KOs) challenges for his first title – the IBF Youth welterweight title – against Ghanaian title contender Abdul Aziz Quartey (19-5, 18KOs); and younger brother Aaron 'The Silencer' McKenna goes for the middleweight version against Mexican Carlos Gallego (8-1, 6KOs).
Background
World-ranked cruiserweight Isaac Chamberlain is trying to force a world title shot and aims to do that by defeating a world title contender.
Dilan Prasovic's only defeat came in his last fight against WBO World cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie in round three of their September 25th fight on the undercard of Joshua-Usyk.
The 200-pounders will meet in an IBF International championship contest over 10-rounds with very similar records, each sharing the same conqueror in Okolie. 'Chambo' was widely outpointed by 'The Sauce' in just his 10th bout almost three years ago now.
The former Southern Area champion has bounced back from defeat and a shoulder injury to win four fights in a row, starting with a narrow 10-round points win over Commonwealth champion Luke Watkins in 2018, followed by three consecutive stoppages within a year between August 2020 and September 2021.
Ranked No.13 with the WBC, the Brixton boxer is chasing a fight with their champion Ilunga Makabu.
Quotes
Chamberlain: ‘There’s a new weapon in the arsenal. Truthfully, I’ve not been able to throw my right hand properly since the Wadi Camacho war (wpts 10, September 2016) but the surgery last November has plugged a gap. Once I fully sort out the accuracy and timing, it’s going to be lethal! Expect some seriously explosive punching.
‘I was actually very happy for Lawrence [winning the WBO title]. We’ve had beef but we’re two boys from underprivileged backgrounds so I’ve nothing but respect for him. It could be another massive fight in the future. First time we were both very young, very inexperienced, fighting before 12,000. The pressure and occasion got to us both and it was a crap fight. But if I didn’t go through it. I’d not be the person and athlete I am today.’
‘Mick [Hennessy] has it all planned out for me. He’s one of the very best in boxing. I’ve full trust in him guiding my career. I’m just a pitbull on a leash! I’ve no need to call people out because I’ve great supporters who’ll turn up no matter who I fight. Besides, I don’t want to give any of the others energy by calling their names!’
Predictions
Tim Rickson,BBN Editor: “Dilan Prasovic looked very one-dimensional against Okolie, although he is the kind of fighter that makes all his opponents look bad. I think this is very clever match-making and Chamberlain should be able to stop his man inside the distance.”
