Kofi Donker injury means he won't be fighting in November as planned
South London lightweight Kofi Donker (1-0) has had to withdraw from his next scheduled fight on November 24 at London’s York Hall.
The 29-year-old national amateur finalist suffered a hamstring injury during training for his second pro bout and had to stop all activity to concentrate on rehabilitation.
He had been matched with Jamie ‘Devil Child’ Quinn, 28 from Stockport, on the Sinfield Star Promotions event.
Donker, who won 29 from 43 amateur bouts and represented London on three occasions, is leaving nothing to chance during his paid career, wisely stating, “I thought it’s not worth it to carry on training and fight when I’m not 100 per cent. I sold 120 tickets for my pro debut and I want the support to grow so I’m not going in the ring unless I’m fighting fit and can put on a good show for the fans.”
The West Norwood puncher, signed to Goodwin Promotions, is now looking at fighting in February next year.
