The International Boxing Organization released their monthly newsletter for September 2022, consisting of all the latest stories surrounding the respected independent governing body in boxing, featuring victorious Brits Maxi Hughes and Terri Harper, the list of current world champions, of which there are four UK fighters, and much more.
The Cat
IBO World Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk met with Team Ukraine before their friendly football match with Scotland earlier this week. The final result between the two teams on Tuesday, September 27 was 0-0. Former goalkeeper Usyk hopes to make his debut in the Ukranian Premier League next year.

Amanda "Real Deal" Serrano took a unanimous decision victory over Sarah Mahfoud in Manchester over the weekend, on the undercard of Joyce-Parker, and looks towards a possible Katie Taylor rematch next.
British Belter
Terri "The Belter" Harper put on the fight of her career jumping up four weight classes to beat Scot Hannah Rankin by unanimous decision to claim the IBO World Super Welterweight title. 25 from Yorkshire, Harper has called out WBC and WBO super-welterweight titlist Natasha Jonas in hopes for a fight at 154lbs early next year, but first the Liverpudlian known as 'Miss GB' has to get through her unified showdown with IBF champ Marie Eve Diclaire in November.
Maximus
There was no stopping the Maxi Hughes train over the weekend on DAZN when the IBO World Super Lightweight champion took a decision victory over Kid Galahad in Nottingham. That's seven victories in a row for 'Maximus' while the favourite to win the fight, Kid Galahad, slips to a third defeat within his last five fights.
Apache scalps Magnesi
Using his height and reach to his advantage, Anthony "Apache" Cacace took a split decision over Michael Magnesi to be crowned the new IBO World Super Featherweight champion in Manchester last weekend. The 33 year old from Belfast won with scores of 116-112 / 112-116 / 117-111.
Lerena vs Wach
Former IBO World Cruiserweight champion Kevin Lerena dominated his toughest Heavyweight competition to date when he took a unanimous decision victory over Mariusz Wach at a sold out Emperors Palace in South Africa to claim the IBO InterContinental Heavyweight title. South African Lerena, known as 'The KO Kid', was IBO World cruiserweight champion between 2017-2020.
The Bomb faces unbeaten champ
IBO World Super Featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner is back in the gym with a new fight date with Mikaela Mayer at the O2 arena for October 15th. The bitter rivals provide chief support to the huge Claressa Shields vs Savannah Marshall undisputed clash.
