The newest updates from the independent International Boxing Organisation
The International Boxing Organization released their monthly newsletter for April 2023, consisting of all the latest stories surrounding the respected independent governing body in boxing, featuring recent results, the list of current world champions – of which there are five UK and Irish fighters. There's a trio of IBO World title fights taking place in the Emerald Isles during May, and rumours of a heavyweight knockout tournament in December.
Fight News
IBO and Unified World Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has been linked to a Saudi backed Final Four tournament with Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and former IBO World champion Anthony Joshua this Winter.
Matchroom Boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, comfirmed talks had begun, "For AJ, one thing’s for sure his big fight, and it will come in the Middle East, will be in December and that will be Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder. That’s what we’re planning. I will be going out next week to meet people to discuss AJ’s fight in December. There is definitely conversations that have taken place, just of plans, where people would like to host Fury against Usyk and AJ against Wilder on the same night. It’s going to cost a lot of money, but would be epic and we will have those conversations."

King Arthur Becomes IBO Mandatory
Briton Lyndon Arthur is now mandatory challenger for the vacant IBO light-heavyweight title – fight due in May. "King" Arthur remains on track to fight for the world title in May after flooring late replacement Boris Crighton in March at the University of Bolton Stadium on the way to a unanimous points win, live on Channel 5.

Cameron Preparing for Taylor
IBO World Super Lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron headed to the warm climate of Tenerife, Spain to train for her championship fight with Katie Taylor for all the belts at 140.

Less than a month out until Dennis Hogan meets "Kid Shamrock" JJ Metcalf in Dublin for IBO Super Welterweight glory on the Taylor-Cameron undercard.

World Championship boxing returns to Belfast on May 27th. IBO World Super Featherweight champion Anthony Cacace makes his maiden defense when he meets IBO Continental champion Damian Wrzesinski of Poland on the stacked Luis Alberto Lopez vs Michael Conlan undercard.

Former IBO World super-bantamweight champion from South Africa, Ludumo Lamati (20-0-1, 11KO), will face WBC #4 Nick Ball (17-0, 10KO) on the undercard of Michael Conlan’s IBF world title challenge at titleholder Luis Alberto Lopez in Belfast on May 27.
WBC Silver featherweight champion Ball was one of the breakout stars of 2022, racking up three inside-distance wins against Isaac Lowe, Nathanael Kakololo and then Jesus Ramirez Rubio. The pair are 38 bouts unbeaten with 21 KOs between them.
Facts about Ludumo LamatiMotu Makes History
It's Fight Week in New Zealand. Mea Motu looks to make history vs Canadian Tania Walters when the two meet for the IBO World Super Bantamweight title at EventFinda Stadium.
Managed by Isaac Peach, Marea Motu is a New Zealand Maori Professional Boxer and a four division New Zealand champion, holding more New Zealand titles then any other female boxer.
Marea discovered boxing at the age of 13 and went on to become a five time New Zealand amateur champion, winning two junior titles, and three elite senior titles. During her amateur career, Motu was trained by her mother Aloma Browne and fought alongside her sister Sally Motu, who also won a New Zealand National title.
A mother of four children, Marea broke the 14 year record set by Daniella Smith for holding the most titles in February 2022.

Barry Hearn Book Launch
Amazing VIP lunch on April 12th where Barry Hearn OBE launched his book in aid of Future Pathway, a support group for retired boxers and sports men and women, including veterans pictured above, Mickey Cantwell (second from left) – a world title contender from south London – and the Reverend Evangelou (far left), whose son's Andreas and Chris both boxed professionally.
Every guest received a free signed copy with the luncheon with the proceeds supporting Future Pathway.
Ukraine Cause
Wladimir Klitschko was in Florida this month hosting the Ukraine Relief Gala. An autographed IBO World title belt was auctioned for the cause.
