The newest updates from the independent International Boxing Organisation

The International Boxing Organization released their monthly newsletter for February 2021, consisting of all the latest stories surrounding the respected independent governing body in boxing, featuring Jessica McCaskill vs Cecilia Braekhus; fearsom Kazakh Gennadiy Golovkin; Brit Terri Harper; Michael Magnesi vs Khanyile Bulana, and more.

One of the most anticipated rematches in Women's Boxing history goes down on March 13th in Dallas,Texas when IBO World Welterweight champion Jessica McCaskill (9-2, 3KOs) faces off with former champion Cecilia Braekhus (36-1, 9KOs). All the marbles are on the line on that 72nd night of the year - five world titles, plus The Ring Magazine belt!

It's a Triple-header of World title action when they rematch in Dallas at the American Airlines Center, live worldwide on DAZN, on a stacked card topped by another eagerly anticipated rematch between Juan Francisco Estrada and Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez. New Matchroom signing Hiroto Kyoguchi will defend his WBA and Ring Magazine World Light-Flyweight titles against Axel Vega on the same show.

In their first fight in August 2020, underdog 'CasKILLA', 36 from Chicago, won via mixed decision but Norway's Braekhus, 39, is back just seven months on to try to regain her 'Undisputed' crown and distinction as the 'First Lady of Boxing' in her 38th pro bout and 28th world title contest.

IBO World Super Featherweight champion Terri Harper has had the cast taken off from her arm now and is back in the ring with trainer Stefy Bull, awaiting a spring fight date with WBA Champion Hyun Choi.

Matchroom Boxing signed the undefeated WBA Super-Featherweight World Champion Hyun-Mi Choi on a multi-fight promotional deal in November 2020.

Choi (17-0-1, 4 KOs) beat China’s Chunyan Xu on her professional debut in October 2018 to claim the vacant WBA Featherweight crown before making seven defences of her World Title in the following five years.

The South Korean became a two-weight World Champion when she landed the WBA Super-Featherweight Title against Thailand’s Siriwan Thongmanit in May 2014, and has since made six defences of the Title, most recently against Wakako Fujiwara in June 2019.

Harper is targeting a unification showdown with Choi this year. Denaby's Harper is also an unbeaten world champion and was the runner-up in BBN's Fighter of the Year Awards 2020.

“I’m looking at the IBO world title. My good friend [Jaron] 'Boots' Ennis, he fought for the IBO world title and unfortunately in the first round the headbutt happened. Boots went for his world title, so I think it’s time I go for my world title in the next three fights."

Super Lightweight prospect Brandun Lee talks with Boxing Scene on his goals for 2021.

“The IBO is pleased to announce its future cooperation with Everlast MMA Gym. Everlast MMA Gym, under the leadership of Joey Chan, is Everlast’s first authorized boxing gym in Shanghai and first brand-operated store in Shanghai that integrates fighting, fitness and clothing with nearly a thousand people visiting the store every week. In the gym you can experience the original boxing culture.”

With the guidance of world renown trainer Abrahim Darwish, Everlast MMA Gym, now with numerous locations and exciting plans for the future will certainly produce many future world champions.
