Hughie Fury tackles former world champion in his next fight
Hughie Fury (22-2, 12 KOs) will return to the ring next month to take on former world heavyweight champion Samuel Peter (38-7) in Saudi Arabia.
The bout is set to take place on the undercard of Amir Khan’s clash with Neeraj Goyat at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, and will be broadcast live on Channel 5.
It sees Fury make a speedy return to the ring, following his dominant second round knockout win over previously unbeaten Chris Norrad at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester last month.
Fury said: “I’ve a job to do and it’ll get done. Samuel Peter is a seriously solid, dangerous veteran who can clearly punch but I relish the challenge.
“It’s always great to visit different places and get my name around the World. I’m expecting a great atmosphere. There’s only one thing on my mind, getting to the very top and winning the world title.”
Fury’s opponent Samuel Okon Peter previously held the WBC title after knocking out Oleg Maskaev in 2008, and has also shared the ring with both Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko during his 18-year professional career.
'The Nigerian Nightmare', based in Las Vegas, is known for his strength and power, with 31 knockouts from 38 victories. He has fought three times this year already, losing a split decision to Mexican Mario Heredia (16-6-1) in April, which was sandwiched between two first-round KO wins.
