Background
Londoner Davies is one win away from his dream world title shot against WBA super-lightweight ruler, Rolly Romero. Since his last loss to Jack Catterall in 2018, the 31-year-old has put together seven wins on the spin, including winning the Golden Contract tournament.
Although his opponent is 40-years-old, nine-years his senior, Barroso is an experienced southpaw who has won the same version of the title they are contesting down at lightweight. 14 of his last 15 victories have come by knockout and only two of his victims have ever lasted the distance with him. In his last fight, he dropped and was beating Romero until referee Tony Weeks stepped in to stop Barroso in the ninth when he was still throwing back and not under any real danger. he was leading on all three scorecards until the bizarre decision from Weeks.
Prediction
Tim RicksonBBN Editor: "Barroso is going to be a real threat to Davies. Despite his advanced age, he is sharp and speedy. He has a tendency to overreach at times, which is where Davies needs to be switched on and sharp to counter. He is always looking to land his big left hand, so Ohara knows where the main threat will be coming from. I think Davies can win this fight on points."
